In the early morning hours of February 12, 2023, an impaired driver crashed into our Main Post Building doing severe damage to the exterior and interior structure as well as some of our equipment, furnishings, supplies, decor and historical memorabilia. After crashing their vehicle into our building, they backed out and took off.

Although there were witnesses and it was caught on camera, unfortunately this Hit-and-Run Driver was never caught. The total cost to repair these damages exceeded $100,000 and our insurance only ended up covering $40,000. With the structure of our Historic 113-year-old building being so severely damaged, we decided to remodel and upgrade to better meet our current needs.

 

 

 

 

That Spokesman-Review story was published less than a week after the accident and later, as we tore into the structure, we realized that the damage was far greater than we had initially thought.

 

By doing much of the remodel ourselves, we were able to complete enough of the repairs to reopen after closing for 5 weeks. And during this time, our Project Manager accidently stepped on a nail that went through his boot and into his foot, which, ultimately, led to him losing all of his toes and half of that foot and he could not see the project to completion. Unfortunately, there is still a lot that needs done that we haven't been able to complete due to lack of funds and resources.
